Systemic Yeast Infection

Systemic Yeast Infection, also known as Systemic Candidiasis, is an advanced state of infection of Candida. Systemic Yeast Infection is what happens when the Candida Albicans organism forms a resilient fungus and begins to invade the bloodstream and spread to other parts of the body. The urinary tract is usually the first area to come under attack, followed by the liver. The entire body can be affected by such an infection and symptoms increase from itching and rashes to chronic fatigue, aches and pains, headaches, and diarrhea. The condition is sometimes called “opportunistic infection”.

Systemic Yeast Infection is sometimes mistaken for IBS due to symptoms of bloating and gas, as well as diarrhea. The proper diagnosis can be made if the doctor is willing to look more deeply. An ultra sound will rule out the possibility of serious diseases in the abdomen and ovaries. A blood and stool test is necessary to make a full assessment. A stool sample examination can show up parasites and an overgrowth of yeast. With the presence of a Systemic Yeast Infection, the balance of the natural bacterial flora will be seen to be upset from the norm.

When Candida grows and spreads in the intestine, the yeast structures grow long roots, which cut into the lining of the intestine. This breaking of the intestinal wall can be enough to let partially digested particles (proteins) into the bloodstream (leaky gut syndrome). Other harmful substances can make their way through these gaps, such as toxins, poisons, irritants, and allergens. As a result of allergens in the blood, some people develop new allergies.

A Systemic Yeast Infection takes longer to cure than one that is localized. However, the treatments are much the same; avoid yeasty foods and sugar, wear loose fitting clothes, etc. For more detail on this subject, see Home Cure for Yeast Infection.
