Yeast
Infection Prevention Diet
Doctors agree, the diet of a
person has a significant impact on their chances of developing
a yeast infection. Some foods are more likely to encourage the
overgrowth of the Candida Albicans organism and upset the
natural balance of the bacterial flora in the body.
Several foods are not recommended
for someone having trouble with yeast infection. These include
dairy products made from cows milk, this is because these
encourage heavy mucus and take relatively long to digest. The
build up of mucus and slow digestion are factors, which can
lead to yeast infection. Goat's milk and products derived from
it are better but still not advised in large quantities.
Hydrogenated fat should also be
cut from the diet. For cooking, look for alternatives like
olive oil, which is a lot healthier in general. White rice and
white flour products should be reduced and replaced with
yeast-free breads or other products made from non-gluten
grains.
Obviously, foods high in yeast
are to be avoided as they will feed the infection. These
include mushrooms, dried fruit, vinegar, beer. Beer is
particularly bad as it also contains alcohol, which should be
avoided. Alcohol does stimulate the growth of Candida so the
consumption should be reduced.
Most importantly, try to avoid
refined sugar. Sucrose is a great fuel for the yeast infection
and will encourage it to grow.
